Overview

The Emergency Medicine Department at Al-Moosa Specialist Hospital (ASH) is a fully equipped department with state-of-the-art medical equipment which operated by an integrated team, including board-certified emergency physicians, senior specialists, seniors registered nurses, multidisciplinary healthcare providers, and non-medical staff (operation & admin experts) working collaboratively to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat the most critical and complex cases also facilitate the patient’s journey within the department and the hospital.

We are honored to serve and treat more than 140,000 patients a year and we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing high quality up to date emergency management to a broad spectrum of acutely injured or sick patients (adult, pediatric, and obstetric patients).

The Emergency Department has a helipad where patients coming by air ambulance are received by well-trained personnel and ACLS and ATLS certified paramedics who follow updated procedures and guidelines.

We are a stroke comprehensive and accredited chest pain center, experts in resuscitating cardiac arrests, stabilizing and treating car accidents injured patients, Managing acute myocardial infarction, stroke, and other medical or surgical emergencies.

 

The Emergency Department is divided into:

 

A- Three Main Sections:

  • Adult Emergency section

Dedicated treatment area for common adult medical and surgical emergencies, covered and monitored by emergency medicine consultants/specialists, and supported around the clock by all inpatient services.

  • Pediatric Emergency section

Dedicated treatment area for common pediatric emergencies, covered and monitored by senior pediatric emergency consultants/specialists, and supported around the clock by all inpatient pediatric services.

  • EMS/Paramedic section

The department is covered by ACLS and PHTLS certified paramedic, trained to safely handle and transfer our patient from/to and between Al-Moosa Health Group (AHG) hospitals.

 

 

B- Four Sub-Division Units:

  • ED Quality unit

It is multidisciplinary unit within the Department that involves physicians, nurses and operation manager working as cohesive team lead by the chief aiming to improve the level of performance of the staff and department in terms of clinical and operational metrics by implementing evidence based quality measures and tools.

  • ED Patient Satisfaction unit

Because of patient satisfaction is one of the top priorities, we recently formulated this unit. The aim is to improve department performance and workflow by looking at and analyzing the monthly Press Ganey report (ED patient satisfaction score).

  • ED Educational unit

It aims to improve the knowledge, skills and competencies of healthcare professionals through conducting CME and educational activities in collaboration with Al Moosa Academic Affairs.

  • ED Staff Wellbeing unit

The Emergency Medicine Department is comprised of three triage rooms, four urgent care clinics, and more than 45 beds, which are organized as follows:

2 Resuscitation beds

1 Critical care/trauma bay bed

20-22 Adult Observation beds

12 Pediatric Observation beds

4 -6 Fast Track beds

2 Isolation rooms

1 Delivery room

1 Procedure room
